Time is a funny thing... Where does it go? It will soon be 2009 and then 2010, which just blows me away. This is the future we thought would never really come (for those who are my age or there about). When I look back on my life and think of all the things I've been through since childhood, college years (in the Viet Nam war era), living the alternative life-styles of the 60-70's, raising my kids, living in Alaska, marriage and divorce, and marriage again, learning about life through good and bad times, trying to live the "good life" ..... It seems that painting has always been a refuge, for me, of peace and solitude, exploring, discovering, and making connections with rest of the world. The world I know and the world we share. My hope for the future is that people will learn to live in harmony, accepting their differences, making the most of this beautiful earth and her resources so that our children, and our children's children can continue to evolve in this sanctuary of beauty we have been given to live in. As the words of my favorite philospher and song writer, John Lennon said, "Imagine all the people living life in peace. ...You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope someday you'll join us, and the world will be as one."
I know this is a big topic, but I'm new to blogging, and thought Hmmm... what shall I write about. So, since my web site is mainly about art, I thought this would get the ball rolling. Art for me has always been a safe haven, a place I can go ... to just do my thing, which for me is trying to capture what I see and feel about the subject of my work. But it is also a place that is sometimes blocked from my immediate grasp, because of all the other responsibilities in life that seem to stop me from going there. I know that this is a creative block, which can be overcome, and so maybe this blog thing will help me get control over that, and set me in the direction of revisiting the place more often. Anyone have any more thoughts along those lines, or if you feel like adding to or changing the subject feel free, because like I said the topic Art and creativity is very large subject to cover. It could go on forever.....
